Marie Everest Obituary

Marie Lucille (Coon) Everest, 98, of Boyne City passed away Wednesday, February 10,2021 surrounded by the caring staff at Grandvue.

Marie was born August 8, 1922 to Rolvin and Mary (Bradley) Coon. She was born in a house in Boyne City and it was Boyne City she lived in her entire life. She graduated from BCHS in 1941 and on April 6, 1942 she married her high school sweetheart Woody Everest. They were married 76 years before Woody’s passing in 2018. She was so proud of that and of all her family. She would tell anyone that would listen how many grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren she had.

Growing up Marie helped with the family business, The City Dairy. Marie’s first job was as a secretary for the Boyne City Chamber of Commerce, but soon traded that in to raise her two children Nancy and Johnny.

Marie is survived by her two children Nancy (Alvin) Zeiss of Cheboygan and John (Susan) Everest of Petoskey, grandchildren Christine (Daniel) Adkison, Rob (Tami) Jensen, both of Boyne City, Rusty (Bea) Gilmore of Converse, TX, Anita (Todd) Mariani of Olathe, KS, Erin (Seth) McBride of Petoskey, Rebecca (Chris) Palmer of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Tessa Everest of Petoskey, 17 great-grandchildren (one on the way), 15 great-great grandchildren (one on the way), sisters-in-law, Marg Skop of Troy and Sue Adamski of Warren, brother-in-law, Wayne Everest of Boyne City, many nieces, nephews and good, good friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be Friday, February 19th from 2PM until 6PM at Stackus Funeral Home. Social distancing policies must be followed and masks must be worn.

A graveside service will be held in the spring, at a time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grandvue Medical Facility, 1728 S. Peninsula Rd., East Jordan, MI 49727.
