Marilyn Mary Reeves Obituary

Marilyn Mary Elizabeth (Brasseur) Reeves, loving wife, mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother, age 93 went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ on March 31, 2024. Mrs. Reeves was born June 12, 1930 to Amie and
Pearl Brasseur and grew up in Afton Michigan. Marilyn is survived by her
husband of 69 years, George (Archie) Reeves, sisters Virginia (Ron) Cymbal
and Alice Hanel, brother Gail (Bonnie) Brasseur, son Douglas (Dianne)
Reeves, daughters Monica (Eric) Schaffer and Carol (Dave) Gearhart,
grandchildren Greg (Robyn) and Gordon (Kate) Reeves, Craig (Erica) and Jeff
(Erin) Kingsbury, Megan (Dave) McIlveen and Kurt Gearhart. She is also
survived by 11 great grandchildren: Abigail and Matthew Reeves, Everett, Jack
and Claire Kingsbury, Cooper Kingsbury, Logan, Emma and Olivia Gearhart,
Mackenzie and Annabelle McIlveen and three step-great grandchildren, Cyrus,
Elise and Layla Zoppa.

Marilyn attended County Normal for advanced education following highschool graduation and became a school teacher. She taught for a few years in a school near Cheboygan before marrying and later became a school aide in the Wolverine Community School system where she served for many years.

Marilyn was brought up in the Catholic tradition and later became a long-term
member of the Wolverine Congregational Church. She rarely missed a
worship service and served in several capacities there.

Mrs. Reeves was perhaps best known for her baking skills. Many people
enjoyed the goodies she baked and she truly enjoyed making them and
delivering them, whether it be to a friend who could use a pick-me-up,
someone who repaired her car, or something for a potluck meal. Many of the
fruit delights she made were flavored with wild berries that Marilyn picked by
hand. She was very adept at collecting wild fruits and picked lots of
strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, preserving them by
canning or freezing them to be used later.

Marilyn looked forward to every family gathering and went to great lengths to
prepare sumptuous meals for holidays when family came together.
Sometimes she had those meals ready well before her husband and son
came home from hunting later than expected but while she might have been anxious about it, she did not make a fuss about it, understanding that in the
wild, things sometimes don't go exactly as planned.

Marilyn will be missed by her family and community.

The family asks that any gifts in her memory be given to the Wolverine Congregational Church.
