Mark Hramiec Obituary

Mark Joseph Hramiec, 64, of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away on March 21, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1960, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, to John and Katherine (Nebel) Hramiec.

Mark attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Mt. Clemens and De La Salle High School in Detroit, graduating from Petoskey High School with the class of 1979. He received a bachelor’s degree from Albion College.

Professionally, Mark served as the property manager of Chester’s Chalets in Petoskey, started by his father, an industrial design technology professor at Macomb Community College. His true passion was helping others. Mark volunteered at Brother Dan’s Food Pantry and was known for always assisting others, whether by plowing a neighbor's driveway or offering his many skills to those in need. He was not only extremely charitable but also deeply committed to St. Francis Church and his community. Mark additionally served as an active member of the Board of Review for Bear Creek Township for 31 years. Most importantly Mark was a loyal and protective son and brother, filled with integrity and strong character.

Mark's greatest joy came each year on November 15th, the opening day of deer season, a tradition he cherished. A passionate hunter and fisherman, he spent countless hours outdoors, enjoying the natural beauty of the area year-round. Another joy was tending to his garden, following the love of his grandfather and uncles. His salmon pate was famous within the family, as was his bacon wrapped venison.

Mark is survived by his mother, Kitty Hramiec of Petoskey; his siblings, Sarah (Tom) Breslin of Marco Island, FL, Jennifer (Rick) DeVries of Petoskey, Mary Hramiec Hoffman of Harbor Springs, David Hramiec of San Diego, CA, Alison Hramiec of Boston, MA, and Paul Hramiec of Fort Myers, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John Hramiec, and his brother, John Christopher Hramiec.

A visitation will be held at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a one-hour visitation prior to Mass. Father Greg McCallum will officiate.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Francis Cemetery, Petoskey.
