Martin Johnson Obituary

Martin A Johnson, 67, of Cheboygan, passed away suddenly on November 19, 2021. Martin was born in Flint, MI on July 19, 1954, to Leo and Marion Johnson. He was raised Lutheran and attended St Paul Lutheran until high school, graduating from Carmen High School. Martin served in the Navy from 1975 to 1979 and was in the reserves until 2001. He retired from Buick after 30 years. Martin married Venita Evans in 2003 and moved up to Cheboygan. Cheboygan has been his “stomping grounds” since childhood; camping, boating, hunting, and spending time with family. Martin was always active in sports and an avid U Of M fan. He worked and golfed at the Cheboygan Country Club for years after retiring.   Martin was hard working and balanced it by having fun with friends and family.   His passion was boating and in recent years, completely renovating their dream home.

Martin is survived by his wife Venita, daughter Jayme (Nate) Robinson, son Theron (Amanda) Wilson, grandchildren Baylee, Brooklyn, and Bostyn, mother Marion Johnson, brother Rick (Patti) Johnson, sisters Teri (Jerry) Provorse and Linda (Paul) Householder, sister in law Margaret Johnson, many nieces and nephews, and special friends Bob and Andi Christensen. He was preceded in death by his father Leo Johnson, brother Randy Johnson, and son Bill Wilson.

As per Martin’s wishes no services are planned. There will be a family memorial in his honor at a later date.

The family is served by Nordman-Christian Funeral Home
