Mary Suzanne Couture, age 75 of Cheboygan, Michigan died unexpectedly on February 2, 2026, at her home in Cheboygan after suffering from ill health for several years. She was born on November 28,1950 in Cheboygan to Charles N. Couture and Marjorie (Langmaid) Couture.
She attended school in Cheboygan, finishing High School in Florida and college at the University of Miami while living with her grandmother.
Her working career started as a purser on cruise lines out of Florida, a cook on ocean-going freighters and jobs in data processing in other states and overseas. Following her retirement, she moved back to Cheboygan and joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, becoming the Flotilla Commander with the coast guard cutter Mackinaw.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Cheboygan, enjoyed reconnecting with friends and her greatest love was travel, which she was able to do until the last few years.
She is survived by Jon Couture, brother, Elaine Couture Butts, sister-in-law, Nick Couture, nephew, Michelle Couture Wilson, niece and many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Charlie and sister Jeanne.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Family suggests memorials to St. Thomas Food Pantry in Cheboygan.
