Matt T. Minzey

Matthew T. Minzey, 58, of Pellston, died August 6, 2022.

Matt was born February 16, 1964, the son of Ted Minzey and Diane Kidd. His early life was in Flint, Michigan until the family moved north to Pellston. He graduated from Pellston High School in 1983.

On February 23, 2001, he married Nancy Spencley. He was extremely involved in his children’s lives and spent countless hours at their sporting events and activities. He coached little league in Pellston for many years, and was a frequent spectator at football, basketball and baseball games.

He worked for Charter cable for 23 years. He also drove school bus for Pellston schools, was a member of the Village Council, and worked at the Pellston Museum. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and sons. He had a great sense of humor and will be remembered as being kind to everyone he met. He will be deeply missed.

Matt is survived by his wife, Nancy Minzey of Pellston; his children, Ashely (Ryan) Dunkel of Petoskey, Aaron (Meagan) Minzey of Petoskey, Morgan (Sean Miller) Minzey of Grand Rapids, and Garrett Minzey of Petoskey; grandchildren Caleb and Cameron Dunkel and Dakota, Nora and Matthew Minzey; parents Ted and Sally Minzey; and siblings, Tammy Stanley and Troy (Becky) Herring.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Kidd; and grandparents, Dale and Gertrude Minzey.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at Stone Funeral Home on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
