Maxine (Miles) Gorman

Maxine Gorman, 97 and life-long resident of Harbor Spring, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

Maxine was born on September 22, 1923 in Harbor Springs, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Davis) Miles and attended Harbor Springs Schools. 

Shortly after high school Maxine married Raymond Saddison whom she shared her 6 children with. Following with her second marriage to Alexander Gorman in 1976.

Maxine held various jobs throughout her life, but her love of children and taking care of them kept coming to the forefront.   When her children were young, she had an in-home daycare and later worked as a housekeeper on Harbor Point, and even traveled with those families during the winter months.  She later went to work at the Holy Childhood Daycare and was well into her 80’s when she decided to retire after her many years of childcare.  Even after her retirement, Maxine loved spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and helped care for them whenever she could. 

Maxine lived a very long extraordinary life. She was a member of the Holy Childhood Parrish and enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards, racing cars, and was an avid bowler.  She bowled at Northern Lights bowling ally until her early 90's. Her pictures still remains on their Wall of Fame. She then took up Wii bowling at the Friendship Center. 

She is survived by 3 children, Janet Pemberton (Saddison), Karen Thomson (Saddison), and Kevin (Kathy) Saddison; 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 33 great great grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband(s), Raymond Saddison and Alexander Gorman; 2 sons, Philip Saddison and Randy Saddison; a daughter, Rosemary Gregory (Saddison); a granddaughter, Faith Hofbauer (Gregory); a grandson, Kendal Pemberton; and by a son-in-law, Steve Pemberton.

A Celebration of Maxine’s life will be held on May 8th at 2pm at 4150 Wressel Road in Harbor Springs.
