Merla "Sandy" (Mueller) Amesbury

Merla J. "Sandy" Amesbury, 88 of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home on December 9th, 2020.

Daughter of Emil and Violet Mueller, Merla was born June 30, 1932 in Petoskey, Michigan where she was raised. She moved to Boyne City around 1962 and lived in the same home for 59 years.

Merla loved playing cards with her friends and family. She also loved taking walks, traveling, and watching the evening sunset.

Merla is survived by her children: Dennis (Janie) Amesbury, Kris (Doug) Leist, Michele (Bryce) Hewitt, and Kim (Amy) Ambesbury; her grandchildren: Damien Leist, Stacy (Andrew) Bearss, Robert (Nancy) Hewitt, Ryan (Abby) Amesbury, Wade (Helen) Leist, Aimee (Jason) McCary, Jacob Amesbury, and Ryder Amesbury; her eleven great-grandchildren; and her siblings Karl (Lyla) Mueller and Loretta Gofourth.

Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Merla’s memory are asked by family to consider Hospice of Petoskey or Cancer Crusaders.

A graveside service for Merla will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, May 8th at Maple Lawn Cemetery and a gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Boyne City Lanes following the graveside service.
