Michael James Smith, 69, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away on December 15th, 2025.
He was a sweet, funny, and loving husband to Lynn Fegan Smith for 48 years.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dolores Smith of Plymouth, Michigan.
He had two sons, Kellan and Ian, as well as three grandchildren; Eliana, Ezra, and Charlie, to whom he passed along many of his wonderful traits.
Mike was kind and generous and brought love and laughter to family, friends, and acquaintances.
This laughter found its way into his long career as a city mail carrier for the Boyne City Post Office.
Mike loved his family, his dogs, his travels, and his active life in the natural world.
He was a voracious reader, a fantastic cook, and had a wonderful way with words.
This obituary is more attention than Mike would ever wish to draw to himself, yet less than his exuberant life should fully deserve.
Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Mike’s memory are asked to consider the Little Traverse Conservancy or a charity of their choice if they choose to do so.
Arrangements are in the care of Stackus Funeral Home.
