Nancy Jean (Darrow) Winans, 87, of Mackinaw City, passed away at her home on March 16, 2023. She was born in Mackinaw City on July 17, 1935, the daughter of Glen and Beatrice (Porter) Darrow.
Nancy loved her family and Darrow’s Restaurant, spending over 45 years there. She was known for her cleanliness as the white glove lady. Nancy enjoyed taking care of people, visiting the farm, and swinging on the front porch. It was her peaceful place. She was looking forward to it when it warmed up this spring.
Nancy is survived by her significant other, Richard “Dick” Rose, her five children, Ron (Pat) Winans, Patty (Bill) Peppler, Tina (Ken) Newsome, Bud (Janie) Winans, and Brandy (Brandon) Billings, her grandkids, Kendra (Brian) Newsome, Matthew (Colleen) Winans, Timothy Newsome, Kortney (Paul) Peppler, Whitney (Chris) Comps, Alicia (Logan) Kinch, Kelsey (Andrew) Peppler, Jared Anderson, Luke Anderson, and Quinn Billings, her great grandkids, Jordan Winans, Cooper Winans, Henry Kinch, and Rose Anderson-Tran.
Nancy is also survived by her brother, Patrick Darrow and sisters-in-law, Lorahdelle and Dorothy Darrow and Janet Darrow-Mauer.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Bea and Glen Darrow, six brothers, Don, Jim, Daune, Bud, Dick, and Perry Darrow, and a sister, Glenda Darrow.
A memorial service will take place at Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 4pm with the family greeting friends beginning at 2pm. Pastor Dave Wallice will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date with a celebration of life hoedown per her request.
