Nathan Franklin Strauss went to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 25, 2022, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He was born on February 13, 1985, in Cheboygan, Michigan. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Petoskey, where Nathan attended school. He graduated Cum Laude from Petoskey High School in 2003, and was a member of the Marching Band, Concert Band and Steel Drum Band. After graduation, Nathan attended Grand Valley State University and Full Sail University in Florida, graduating with a degree in Recording Arts.
Nathan was a talented musician, gifted at playing the piano, organ and percussion, and received the nickname "piano man." He composed the music and lyrics for his band, Tragic Mix, and played at many local venues with other singer/songwriters. In his spare time, Nathan enjoyed writing original music and singing with his fiancé. In his later years he was a car aficionado, and loved to talk about Car and Driver Magazine. Nathan was extremely kind, had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
Nathan is preceded in death by his grandparents; Franklin and Eleanor Strauss, and Dale Mittelstaedt; and uncles, Francis Strauss and Thomas Strauss.
Nathan is survived by his fiancé, Jennifer Wilhelm; parents Timothy (Carolyn) Strauss and Erika Varnam; sisters Elise (Jason) Mantey, Erin (Killian) Viles; brother Donald (Elaine) Clark; nephews, Lukas, Karl, Hans and Wilhelm Mantey; nieces Adelaide, Heidi and Sadie Viles; grandparents Shirley Mittelstaedt, and Donald and Jacqueline Woods; and by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
