Nettie L. Kaczynski - Rosenthal passed away June 8, 2018 at the Brook Retirement Community in Cheboygan at the age of 96.
Nettie was born January 29, 1922 in Lowell, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Aubert) Balcom, one of 12 children who all remained close throughout their lives.
Nettie was married for 57 years to John Kaczynski, Sr, who preceded her in death on February 11, 1997 in Cheboygan, Michigan at their home on Black Lake.
Nettie later married Eugene Rosenthal in 2006 at Pensacola, Florida. Following Eugene’s death in 2016, Nettie returned to Cheboygan, Michigan and was a resident of the Brook Retirement Community.
Nettie was a surgical nurse for many years at McLaren Hospital in Flint, Michigan. She then worked as an elementary school attendance officer for Beecher Public Schools.
Her enjoyment of life stemmed from a deep love of nature, gardening, and bird watching. She was member of several environmental associations including current membership in the Audubon Society.
Nettie is survived by her three children; John Kaczynski Jr., Barbara Anderson, and Dan Kaczynski, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, with her 14th great grandchild due in August. She is also survived by her two siblings, Gerald McCaul and Marjorie McCaul.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and nine brothers and sisters, Viola Gould, Charles Balcom, Mort Balcom, Irene Rozell, Harley Balcom, Frank Balcom, C.O. Balcom, Anna May Kindig, Mary Ann McCaul, and Robert McCaul.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00am, with her family greeting friends beginning at 10:00am, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan. Chaplain Dianne Myers will officiate, burial will be at Pinehill Cemetery in Cheboygan.
