Norbert Dennis Lang, 78 of Indian River, MI, died November 3, 2025 at the Aspin Ridge Facility in Gaylord, MI.
Norbert was born on June 17, 1947 in Detroit, MI, the son of Dennis Francis and Pearl (Brahmer) Lang. He grew up in Taylor, MI and attended St. Alfred’s School and graduated from Taylor Center, both of Taylor, and also attended Schoolcaft College in Livonia.
Norbert dedicated 37 years as a Tool and Die Maker for Ford Motor Company, Livonia Transmission Plant. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1966 until 1968. First with the First Calvary Division and later the 1/5 Black Nights.
On September 3, 1989, Norbert married the love of his life, Locia Jean Meek. Upon retirement, Norbert and Locia “Jean” built their home here in Indian River.
Norbert and Locia became involved in the Indian River community, Norbert founded and was President of the Northern Rods and Rides Car Club. He was a proud member of the American Legion, Branch 299, of Mackinaw Island, VFW Post 7439 of Indian River and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Arie 4046, of Indian River.
Norbert loved his family, classic cars, hunting, fishing, dancing and oldies music.
Norbert is survived by his wife of 37 years, Locia “Jean” Lang; daughters, Melissa (Jeff) Lang and Donna (Tom) Loewe; and son, Jim Workman. He was the Proud Grandfather of Joshua Workman, Christopher (Heather) Cooney, Rebekah (Darren) Tylor, Vanessa Lang and Brianne Cooney; great grandfather of Ryker Cooney, Oliver Garcia, River Cooney, Calliope Garcia, Isla Bomia and Issabella Bomia. He was the brother of Rochelle Giannola, Roger (Carol) Lang, Laurane Yoakum, Gregory (Lynn) Lang, and Daryl (Gail) Lang; brother-in-law to Carol Lang and proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; a loving daughter, Nicole Lang, and by a brother, Duane Lang.
The family will receive friends at the Cross in the Woods Catholic Church - Gathering Space on Friday, November 7th from 2-4pm with the funeral Mass immediately following the visitation at 4pm. Norbert will be laid to rest with military honors on Wednesday, November 12th at 2pm at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
