Norman Eugene Compton

Norman Eugene Compton, 59 of Boyne Falls, died May 28, 2023 at the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

Noman was born on February 3, 1964 in Douglas, MI and was raised in Flint. 

In 1998, Norman met the love of his life, Gretchen Hanners, and the two made their home in Petoskey where they raised their family.  In July of 2013, Norman went to work at Bay Area Clean Care, first as a Certified Technician, and later as the In-Shop Supervisor.

Norman was a member of the Walloon Lake Community Church and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.  He was a well-loved man and a guy who always had nice things to say about those around him.  He had a wonderful giving heart and will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Gretchen; sons, Joshua Compton and Vern (Courtney) Grams; Mom, Georgia Compton; mother and father-in-law, Michael and Dee Sliwinski; sisters, Debbie Sommers and Cindy Bailey; brothers, Don (Ellen) Compton and Tommy Wood; and by many nieces and nephews.

Norman was preceded in death by his father, William Paul Compton; grandparents, George and Ida Wood and William Don and Ocie Compton; brother, Terry Wood; brother-in-law, John Sommers; and sister-in-law, Tracy Lynn Robinson.

The family will receive friends at the Walloon Lake Community Church on Saturday, June 3rd at 10am.  Services celebrating Norman’s life will be held on Saturday immediately following the visitation at 11am.
