Oliver Mallory Obituary

Oliver George Mallory, 76, of Levering, died June 29, 2025, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Olie was born on January 9, 1949, in Petoskey, the son of Alva and Marie (Bayha) Mallory. He grew up in Levering and graduated from Pellston High School in 1967.

On February 25, 1967, he married the love of his life, Janet Bennett. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter, spending the next 58 years side by side. Olie was a devoted husband, father, and family man.

He worked as a block truck driver for 42 years with Emmet Brick and Block in Petoskey. Throughout his career, he formed many lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. He retired at age 62.

A gifted woodworker, Olie had an incredible ability to recreate items just by looking at a photo. He crafted bird feeders, lawn ornaments, and lighthouses, which he proudly sold at local flea markets. He also loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting, and riding his side-by-side through the beauty of northern Michigan.

Olie and Janet created a home rooted in love, laughter, and connection. He had close relationships with each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was also deeply bonded with his in-laws, who were as much family to him as his own siblings. Olie will be remembered for his quick wit, artistic talent, strong work ethic, and deep appreciation for nature. He will be missed beyond measure.

Olie is survived by his wife Janet of Levering; his children, Scott (Lisa) Mallory of Bliss, Greg (Susan) Mallory of Carp Lake, and Tammy (Jacob) Brooks of Arkansas; grandchildren, Ashlynn (Mike) Scott, Amy (Jon) Sisovsky, Hayley Sewell, and Hannah Sewell; great-grandchildren Brady, Brayden, Malachi, Gideon, and Paislee; siblings, Ernie and Helen Mallory; and many beloved members of the Bennett family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harrold, Vern, and Harry Mallory.

In accordance with Olie’s wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements are in the care of Stone Funeral Home.
