Pauline Steele, age 89, passed peacefully at Bay Bluffs Care Facility on November 3, 2025.
Pauline was born on April 1, 1936, in Richland Township, the daughter of Hugh Byard and Juanita (Falor) Byard. She attended Pellston Public School.
Pauline married Calvin “Pete” Steele on August 29, 1952, with whom she had two children, Darcy and Patty.
Pauline shared a deep bond with her sister, Betty, with whom she shared many areas of employment, including Boyne Highlands, Nubs Nob, the Harbor Club, and Audie’s in Mackinaw City. They appreciated being able to carpool to work together, sharing stories as they lived them.
Pauline attended Bliss Missionary Church and enjoyed crocheting and knitting in her spare time, always willing to share and put her talents to good use.
Pauline is survived by son Darcy (Laura) Steele; daughter Patty (Don) Dubois; and stepson Roger (Jan) Steele. She is also survived by brother Phil (Leona) Byard, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded by her husband Calvin, her parents Hugh and Juanita, sisters Betty Spierling and Edna Rosebaum, and stepson Dennis Steele.
She was known for her open personality and quick memory regarding those in her community.
A visitation will be held for Pauline on November 10, 2025, at Stone Funeral Home. This event will begin at 5:00 PM and conclude at 7:00 PM.
The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Bay Bluffs Care Facility in Harbor Springs, which gave exceptional care to both Pauline and her sister, Betty.
