Pauline Ann Tallman (64) of Cheboygan, passed away unexpectedly in her home on November 30th, 2025.
Pauline was born in Cheboygan, MI and was raised in her hometown by her parents Virginia “Ginny” (Vincent) Tallman and Adolph “Smoky” Tallman. Pauline's fondest memories growing up was spending time with her maternal grandparents Bertha and Joseph Vincent. She loved them greatly and cherished visiting and spending time with them, especially her Grandmother, until both of their passings.
Pauline had a kind heart and was a caregiver by nature. She spent her life caring for other people and loved running her in home daycare for many years while her own children were growing. Pauline’s most beloved accomplishment was being a mom and nana. Pauline valued her children and grandchildren over everything else and they were her pride and joy. Pauline’s four children include Sean and Kelly LaVigne (Ohio), Sara LaVigne-Tye (Harbor Springs, MI), Steven LaVigne (Lansing, MI), and Scott and Nate LaVigne-Coumos (Cleveland, OH). The hole felt in her children’s hearts is huge but the love she gave them will always live on.
Spending time with her grandchildren was the highlight of Pauline’s day. She loved baking and cooking with and for them. Christmas was Pauline’s favorite holiday and she would spend weeks preparing everyone’s favorite treats and prepping for Christmas dinner. Her love for her six grandchildren was unmatched. Haydn Deitz, Ellye Deitz, Amaya Deitz, Kaidance LaVigne, Braidon LaVigne and Isabell Tye will greatly miss the enormous presence she brought to their lives and will forever “love you to the moon and back.”
Pauline made many connections throughout her life and her favorite was her sister by choice Deb McClure. A friendship spanning decades and true testament that family is not formed by blood but by those who stand by you no matter what. Another special connection forged was with her dear friend and companion, Kip Thibault. Their mutual love and care she truly treasured. Pauline also “adopted” many other children and grandchildren through her life. She was known to many as mom or nana, spreading her love to as many souls as possible, filled her heart.
Pauline loved to bake and cook. Often preparing for an army, she loved to give away meals and treats. She would randomly drop off cookies, lasagna or anything she had whipped up to her friends, neighbors and children. She was especially known for her homemade jams, a pantry stable in all of her friends and family homes. Pauline was an extremely giving person and would lend a hand to whoever needed it. She was a loyal friend and cared for people deeply.
Pauline has requested that no service is to take place and for her family to celebrate her life in private. If you wish to celebrate Pauline do so in her spirit.. Cook and bake for those you love and spread the joy. Pauline was a wonderful mom and nana, she is so loved by us all and we are heartbroken by her unexpected passing.
