Randy Lee Obituary

Randy L. Lee, age 78, of Cheboygan passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021. He was born April 10, 1943 in Saginaw, the son of Herbert and Esther (Fresorger) Lee. He grew up in Bridgeport, MI and graduated from Saginaw High School in 1961 and earned his Associate’s Degree from Delta College.

Randy worked for General Motors as a tool and die maker at the Saginaw Steering Gear Plant and retired in 1995 after 30 years of service. While working at GM, he also owned and operated Lee Tents, a successful tent rental business in Saginaw.

He enjoyed hunting, skiing, motorcycling, ATVing, snowmobiling, boating and he even ran a marathon. Randy was an adventurer and loved to travel. In 1982 he rode his BMW motorcycle to Alaska and in 1996 pulled his 25’ sailboat from Saginaw to Costa Rica to sail in the ocean. The next year, he and Sue sold everything and went RVing around the US. Above all else though was his passion to help others.

Survivors include his life partner, Sue Kowzan of Cheboygan, two daughters, Phyllis (Henry) Searle of Owosso and Julie (Patrick) Lewis of Fort Mohave, AZ, his son, Robert Lee of Las Vegas, NV, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Patricia McCurry and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 19 at 11:00 AM with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. Pastors Jim Currie and John Bailey will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army or Veteran’s Memorial Park. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
