Ray Anderson Obituary

Ray Anderson, 91, passed away Monday, April 15th, 2024 at his daughter’s home surrounded by family, while under the care of hospice. Ray was born October 4th, 1932 in Cheboygan Michigan. The son of Edward and Violet (Romblom) Anderson. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1956 as Airman 1st class in Korea. In 1953, he married Beverly Meggitt at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Cheboygan. He attended Central Michigan University and Michigan State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1960. Ray was employed as a project manager at Charmin Paper Company, and as an electrical engineer at General Motors. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He liked to read, putz around in the yard and garage, and grill barbecued chicken. He was active in church activities and served God faithfully all of his life. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beverly, his four children; Mark (Jan) Anderson/Ginter of Crossville, Tennessee, Steve Anderson of Cheboygan, Nancy (Dan) Andruccioli of The Woodlands, Texas, and Jill Carson of Cheboygan; grandchildren Tiffany (Joe) Clemmey, Alyssa (Charlie) Welbes, Rachael (Chris) Schardon, Linda (Josh) Giles, Eric (Chloe) Anderson and Nicole Andruccioli. As well as 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving is sister Irene Wright and multiple nieces and nephews. Ray was proceeded in death by his parents Ed and Violet Anderson, siblings Glenn Anderson, Margaret Massey, Ruth Gundry and Lillian Kihn. A memorial service officiated by Pastor Dick Griffin will be held on Saturday, June 22 at the Evangelical Covenant Church located at E. 3424 East U.S. 23, Cheboygan, MI. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM with the service at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon.  The inurnment will be immediately following at Pine Hill Cemetery in Cheboygan. A memorial donation can be made to Hospice of Cheboygan or Cheboygan Evangelical Church.
