Richard Brown Obituary

Richard Charles Brown, 82 of Cheboygan, MI passed peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2022. Born October 1, 1939 in Cheboygan MI to his late parents, James and Evelyn Brown. Rich was raised in Cheboygan, attended Cheboygan Catholic High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Michigan State University. After graduating from MSU, he returned to Cheboygan and began a teaching career at the Aloha School and later Black River School. He moved to Dearborn Heights in the late 60’s as a teacher and later worked as an officer in the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. He migrated to West Michigan in the early 70’s managing the Drivers Education Program at the YMCA and raising his 6 sons in whom he took great pride. In the mid 80’s Richard lived in Frankfort, MI building homes and raising his loving daughter Rachel. Richard retired to Cheboygan in the early 2000’s spending his golden years fulfilling a lifelong dream of traveling the world with his sweetheart, Sandra.

Richard was predeceased by his son Charles, brother James and sister Peggy. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra, sister Barbara Fought, half-brother Michael Brown, and his six children and their families: Thomas and his wife Janet; Peter and his children, Kaily and Riley; Patrick, his wife Barbara, and their children, Aiden and Jacob; Richard, his wife Tina, and their son Brandon, Sean and his wife Kate, Rachel and her husband Sean Flood as well several nieces and nephews and their families.

Richard was loved by many who will miss his great sense of humor, thought-provoking conversations and zest for life.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Richard’s honor for family and friends on Saturday, September 17, 2022, starting at 3pm at 150-D Riverside Drive, Cheboygan, MI.
