Richard "Dick" Lee Starr, 78 of Alanson, Michigan passed away on February 2, 2020 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.
Son of Warren and Betty (Huffman) Starr, Dick was born on April 20, 1941 in Petoskey, Michigan. Dick grew up in Petoskey and Grand Haven where he attended school and graduated from Petoskey High School.
In 1974 he married Patricia Koper at the Burt Lake Church and spent the next 46 loving years together.
Dick worked as a plant superintendent at Manthei Veneer for 50 years in Petoskey. To him, he enjoyed the owners and people he worked with so much that they were family.
Dick's passions included hunting, fishing, and playing the guitar. He loved to go out before dawn while hunting and watch the forest wake up with life. Dick experienced the greatest joy of his life while picking and grinning with his friends and family playing the guitar. The outdoors and his life was his church.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Patricia; his two sons: Richard and Tony; his siblings: William (Diane), Sharon (Skip) and Norm (Sue) and his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Preceding Dick in death are his father, Warren Starr; mother and stepfather, Betty and Albert Spencer; daughter, Kaylyn; grandson, Brian; and by a sister, Kandy.
Dick will be buried at the Alanson Littlefield Cemetery in the summer of 2020. A memorial graveside service will be held.
Arrangements are in the care of Stone Funeral Home, Inc.
