Robert John Simon, 59

Robert "Bob" Simon passed away at his home in Bay Shore on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

He was born Robert John Simon on October 29, 1961, in Petoskey to Daniel and Mary (Speigl) Simon; one of eight children born to his family.  He grew up in Bay Shore and attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. He was a Petoskey High School graduate, Class of 1979.  Following high school, Bob joined the Michigan National Guard, where he served for several years.  He married Katherine Adams on December 28, 1986; together, they made their home in Bay Shore. 

Bob worked in the construction trades for many years, primarily finding work as a roofer.  For years Bob lived for the winter months when he could break out his snowmobile and run it as fast as possible, a skill that came in handy during his relic racing years.  

Surviving Bob is his wife Kathy and his parents Dan and Evelyn Simon.  His siblings include Chris (John) Knight, Leo Simon, Dan (Beth) Simon, Gary Simon, Janet (Jim Harrison) Simon, Kevin (Jo) Simon, and Carol (Doug) Melvin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceding Bob in death was his mother, Mary, and his nephew, Simon Ernst.  

A service will take place in the coming weeks and will be announced by Stone Funeral Home. 

Bob was a good son, husband, brother, and friend.  He will be missed.
