Robert Waryas

Robert Waryas, 77, of Cheboygan, passed away Tuesday, December 28 in Lantana, Texas. Robert was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on February 2, 1944, the son of Louis and Veronica (Wolak) Waryas.

Robert grew up in Detroit where he graduated high school before working for Century Tool and Die in Warren for 14 years. Later, he worked for Pontiac Motors at the Lake Orion Assembly Plant before retiring as a member of the UAW in 2006.

Robert was an active member of St. Mary’s/St. Charles Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, wood working, and traveling.

Robert is survived by his sons, Doug Waryas (and wife Karen) of Austin, Texas and Tom Waryas (and wife Betty) of Lantana, Texas and his granddaughter Lia Waryas of Lantana, Texas.   He is also survived by his brother Arthur (and wife Camille) of Cheboygan, MI, Bernard (and wife Sara) of Dunedin, FL, Thomas (and wife Geri) of Dryden, MI, and sister Mary Ann Vitiello of New Baltimore, MI.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Louise, who passed away on August 31st, 2018.

A memorial mass will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cheboygan on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11am. Father Duane Wachowiak will officiate. Cremation has taken place and Robert will be buried at Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Alverno in the spring.

Memorial contributions in Robert’s honor may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
