Robert "Rob" L. Eaton

Robert L. “Rob” Eaton, 63 of Petoskey, died September 24, 2021 at his home.

Rob was born on June 9, 1958 in Petoskey, the son of Lyle and Kaye (Smith) Eaton and was raised in Petoskey, graduating from Petoskey High School and later graduating from Ferris State University with an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology.

On December 3, 1983, Rob married the love of his life, Judy Baumgartner in Petoskey and the two made their home in Oklahoma for a time before returning to Petoskey.  Upon returning, Rob went to work as an electrician for various local companies, including John Castillo, Burdek Electric and Wayne’s Electric before venturing out on his own and establishing Rob’s Electric.  Since that time, Rob met and hired Chris Ernst.  Chris became Rob’s pride and joy to mentor and the left hand to Rob’s right and was thought of more like a son to him than an employee.

Rob's passion for the outdoors led him to be an avid Hunter and Sportsman. He Loved the challenge of hunting with his bow, whether it was white tail deer, bear or wild turkeys, He was our "Fred Bear".

Besides Loving Judy and his Family, his second love was his Harley. Enjoying many rides and adventures with his "motorcycle brotherhood".   His Love for his family and friends was unconditional. Hosting many Labor Day parties with Judy was their honor to share the togetherness of family and friends.

Rob didn't have the word "NO" in his vocabulary too often.  He was always helping one person or another to make their lives easier. It didn't matter what time of day or night Rob was always there.   He was extremely loved by all who knew him and will be truly missed.  ❤

Rob is survived by his wife, Judy (Baumgartner) Eaton; Brothers, Don (Kathy) Eaton, Larry Eaton, and Mark (Teresa) Eaton; Sister,  Kelly (Ron) Gaines; Nieces and Nephews: Tina (Johnny), Jennifer, Jessica, Lyle (Kara), Lyndsay (Greg) and by their children who were like Rob’s grandchildren, Carson and Owen, and by Nick (Caden), and Kyle; Aunts,  Jerri and Janice, and by many cousins and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Rob’s life will be held on Saturday, Oct 2nd at 1pm at the Alanson Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Foster Schmidt officiating.  Jeans and T-shirts will be acceptable attire at the service.  The family will receive friends at the church on Oct 2nd from 11-1pm.
