Roberta Joyce Bowman, 93, of Petoskey, died May 23, 2025, at the Cheboygan Harmony House.
Chaplain Dianne Meyers will be officiating the Celebration of Life service on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Greenwood Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
Roberta was born on March 21, 1932, in Petoskey, Michigan, the daughter of Jesse and Mable (Stanley) Hall of Bay Shore. She grew up in Bay Shore attending a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1950.
On May 6, 1952, she married Harold William Bowman when he was on leave from the Army during the Korean Conflict. Roberta and Harold moved to Albion where Roberta was a stay-at-home mother, raising six children. The family moved back to Petoskey in 1976, where she worked as a teacher for Head Start, until her retirement.
Family was one of the most important things to Roberta. She is survived by her children Harold Bowman Jr. and Jesse Bowman of Bay Shore, Tina (Mike) Scott of Alanson, and Josie (Philip) Woodruff of Topinabee; 13 grandchildren; several more great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Anetta Zink of Petoskey.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Sr.; son Richard; and daughter Jill.
The Bowman family suggests memorial donations be directed to Cheboygan Harmony House (722 South Street, Cheboygan, MI 49721).
