Ronald Buckner Obituary

Ronald Mack Buckner, 83, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully August 4, 2022 at his home.

He was a devoted husband and loving father. He will be deeply missed.

He was born on January 26, 1939, in St. Clair Shores, the son of Arch and Delores (Mansfield) Buckner. Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he moved to northern Michigan. He worked in law enforcement for the City of Petoskey. After retiring he became a Charlevoix County Marine Deputy, a courtroom bailiff, and finally a security officer for Bay Harbor.

On March 30, 1963, he married Sally Weiss. They made their home in Charlevoix and had two children, Kim and Michael.

In his spare time, Ronald enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and cutting wood. In his younger years, he was a member of the Elks Club, the VFW, and the Charlevoix Rod and Gun Club. He served on the Veteran’s Trust Fund for 15 years and the Hayes Township Board of Review for several years. He always wanted to learn to fly. He took classes and obtained his pilot’s license and was a member of the Fly Club in Charlevoix.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sally Buckner of Charlevoix; his children, Kim Cox of Ironton and Michael Buckner of Alanson; sisters-in-law, Darlene Buckner and Liz Buckner; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Dale and Ernest Buckner.
