Ronald Wright Obituary

Ronald Jay Wright, 89 of Boyne City, Michigan, made his final passage home on Wednesday September 10, 2025, with son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Amy, at his side at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.

Ron was born on January 13, 1936, in Saginaw Michigan to Walter and Alice Wright. He grew up with his three siblings: Barbra, Dale and Floyd on Alice Street in Saginaw enjoying family favorite activities in sports, boating, hunting, woodworking and drawing/sketching his favorite neighborhood homes. As a boy he would deliver his mother’s homemade bread in his wagon for extra money and later worked at his dad’s Texaco Service Station at 1717 East Genesee (an address he was able to recall till the end) and weekends at Eight Point Lake.

He attended Arthur Hill High School where he excelled in sports; Basketball-Center, Football-Nose Guard and was consistently one of the fastest on the teams.

In the fall of 1956, he attended Central Michigan College with design on becoming an architect. In 1959 he started Wright Construction Company with his dad. He worked hard on the jobsite during the day and designed homes with a laptop drafting board in the evenings. He is a past president of the Saginaw Home Builders Association and to this day the real estate market makes special note of a Ron Wright built home.

He met the love of his life Nancy Ann Schriener in the summer of 1956, and they were married on September 21, 1957, lasting just weeks short of 68 years. They had two sons, Douglas Alan and Gregory Dale. The family grew to enjoy all things together, which included building a weekend home on Walloon Lake. Hunting, skiing, boating, building and being together continues for the Ron Wrights to this day.

Ron is survived by his wife Nancy; brother Floyd Alan (Nancy); sons-Douglas Alan and Gregory Dale (Amy); grandsons-Brennen Robert (Jessica), Drue Douglas (Kelsey) and Tyler Prange (Cheyanne); and several great grandchildren all living in the Boyne area.

Ron was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Alice Elisabeth and Walter Marion; sister Barbra Ilene Fox of Clemson South Carolina; brother Dale Walter Wright (Jane) of Saginaw Michigan; and niece Sara Snider Wright of Boyne City.

Our family would like to express extreme gratitude to the team at Grandvue for their love and care of Ron from his first till his last day.

In lieu of flowers please consider supporting Habitat for Humanity (Ron believed a nice home brings peace); The Walloon Lake Association and Conservancy (promoting the protection of the place he loved); Grandvue Medical Care Facility (his safe and loving place till the end).

A visitation will be held at Stackus Funeral Home on September 18, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
