Roxanne M. Gibbard, 68, of Petoskey, died November 20, 2022, at her home. Roxanne was born on February 28, 1954, in Petoskey, the daughter of Leslie “Rex” and Helen (Monette) Gibbard.
She attended school at St. Francis and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1972.
Roxie worked as a cashier and stocker at Wal-Mart for the last 23 years. She enjoyed many things, with her greatest passion being sewing. Throughout her life she was an exceptionally talented seamstress who could make or fix just about anything! She was recognized countless times and won many awards for her work. Doing puzzles, collecting and building with Lego bricks, and spending time with her six wonderful grandchildren were also some of her other favorite things. She was known for her delicious peanut butter no-bake cookies and Texas sheet cake brownies. She will be deeply missed.
Roxie is survived by her children, Missy Swadling and Nick (Lisa) Moyer; her grandchildren, Brandon Swadling, Kyle Swadling, Troy Swadling, Colin Moyer, Noah Moyer, and Emilia Moyer; her siblings, Candis (Robert) King, Charles (Jane) Gibbard, Helen Massey, Richard Gibbard, Evelyn (Jim) Skultety, Doreen (Mark) Abbott and Theresa Verburg; several nieces and nephews; as well as many extended family members, including her former brother in-law, to which she referred to as her special brother “out-law”, Irv Moyer.
There will be no service at this time, but the family will be holding a celebration of life for Roxie in the spring of 2023. The family will make an announcement at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate any charitable donations made in her memory to Brother Dan’s Food Pantry, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, or the Brave Hearts Estate.
