Roy Alexander Obituary

Roy Michael Alexander, 90, a lifelong resident of Carp Lake, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at Bay Bluffs Care Facility in Harbor Springs.

Roy was born on September 29, 1935, to Raymond “Pete” and Marjorie Alexander. He attended Pellston Public Schools and, before graduating, began helping his father in the family business, Alexander’s Plumbing and Heating of Carp Lake, which he would later own and operate.

Roy proudly served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957. After returning home, he reconnected with former classmate Carol Lee Walker, and the two were married on January 4, 1958, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Roy and Carol shared a love of dancing and a deep appreciation for the home and community they cherished in Carp Lake.

Throughout his life, Roy was actively involved in numerous local organizations, including the Paradise Lake Association and the Board of Review. He also served as the area’s assistant fire chief for a time.

An avid outdoorsman, Roy was a lifelong hunter and fisherman whose passion for the outdoors never faded. He spent countless days in the woods and on the water throughout Northern Michigan and Canada, continuing to hunt and fish well into his eighties. Fall was his favorite season, and he was among those who considered November 15th a holiday in its own right.

Roy is survived by his children, Christopher (Janet) Alexander and Karen (Tony) Steinberg; grandchildren, Jodi (Jay) Haven, Gerald (Christina) Steinberg, Jack Alexander, Luke Alexander, Claudia (Daniel) Swanson, Lily (Zach) Tufer, and Elena Alexander; great-grandchildren, Jasper, Brent, Christian, Lucy, Blaise, and Anastasia; and his longtime companion and dear friend, Ann Coffin.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Alexander; son, Kory Alexander; parents, Pete and Marjorie Alexander; brother, Raymond “Bud” Alexander; and sister, Viva Dankert.

A Requiem Latin Funeral Mass will be held on June 6, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in Mancelona, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Carp Lake Township Cemetery after Mass.
