Samuel "Sam" Norris Obituary

Samuel “Sam” Louis Norris, 91, of Harbor Springs, passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 13th, 1933, in Jamestown, New York, Sam was the son of the late Leonardo Norris and Angeline (Martino) Norris. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 69 years, Nancy, a dedicated father to his three children, a cherished grandfather of four grandchildren, and a proud great-grandfather of two great-grandchildren.

Sam proudly served his country during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge and the National Defense Service Medal for his service. After his military service, Sam became a respected local automobile dealer in Midland, Michigan, where he served the community for 40 years.

In his leisure time, Sam was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed fishing and flying. In addition, he was a member of the Elks Club and the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA). Family was central to Sam’s life, and he always made an effort to ensure they had wonderful experiences together. Those who loved him will greatly miss his masterful storytelling, sense of humor, and vibrant presence at gatherings.

Sam is survived by his wife Nancy (Molnar) Norris; his children Carol (Ralph) DeWitt, Robert Norris, and Cindy (Thomas) Tschirhart; his grandchildren Christine (Eric) Fusciardi, Ryan (Sarah) DeWitt, Blake (Sophia) Tschirhart, and Allison Tschirhart; his great-grandchildren Cali Rose and Scarlett Faye; and his half-brother, Greg Norris.

A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, May 2nd. Family will receive guests from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs, with a service immediately following to be conducted by Sam's niece Reverend Doctor Nancy Kahaian.
