Sandra (Howard) Clausen

Heaven gained a sweet angel on January 8, 2022.  On Saturday, Sandra Clausen passed away after a long battle with cancer.  She was born in Flint, Michigan on January 27, 1942 to Henry and Mabel Howard. Her family moved to East Jordan when Sandy was three years old and she lived the rest of her life in East Jordan.  On July 15, 1961, she married Courtlan Clausen, and celebrated 60 years of marriage this past summer. They had three children Teresa Clausen of East Jordan, Steven (Sandy) Clausen of East Jordan and Julie (Tom) Ferris of Poquoson, VA.

Family was very important to Sandy.  She and Courtlan have seven grandchildren, John Clausen, Jay Clausen, Rachel Clausen, Ellie Clausen, Mitchell Ferris, Allie (Trae) Wilkinson, and Courtney (Gavin Baird) Ferris.  They also have two great grandchildren, Macie Wilkinson and Riley Wilkinson.  Sandy’s extended family includes several nieces and nephews and many close friends that she considered family.

Sandy is survived by her husband and three children as well as her bother Les (Mabel) Howard of Vanderbilt and sister-in-law Shirley Howard of Clio, MI.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mabel Howard, her four brothers, Bernard Howard, Lyle Howard, Bob Howard and Norm Howard.

Sandy worked for more than 20 years in Boyne City at the factory that is now Honeywell. She was also an avid bowler in Boyne for more than 20 years. Sandy enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds. She loved shopping and going to the casino.  What Sandy loved the most was spending time with her family and friends.  Whether hanging out with friends, going on vacation with family or absolutely spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids, Sandy enjoyed being surrounded by the people she loved.

Funeral and visitation will be at Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City.  Funeral will be at noon on Friday, January 14, 2022.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and prior to the funeral on Friday starting at 11:00 am.
