Sandra “Sandy” Mae Antilla, 87, of Harbor Springs, Michigan died on September 18, 2025, at Blissful Cottage in Petoskey.
Sandy was born on January 8, 1938, in Hillman, Michigan, the daughter of Stanley and Johanna (Brandt) Herrick. She graduated from Cooley High in Detroit and later received her degree in nursing from Grace Hospital.
On May 19, 1967, she married her love, Bob Antilla. They relocated to Harbor Springs where they raised their family and spent 53 years side-by-side.
Sandy worked in the pediatric department at Burns Clinic before spending over 25 years with Petoskey Pediatrics. Sandy cared for generations of families, from pediatric nursing to volunteering her time in her community, especially with the Manna Food Project. She was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey for many years.
Sandy had a special place in her heart for each and every one of her grandchildren. That feeling was shared by the grandkids as they would bond over their lists of “Sandy-isms” such as “Oh my stars” and “That’ll take a month of Sundays”, and always closing the conversation with a “Bless Your Heart” for good measure. Family and friends would always hope for fresh cinnamon rolls or brownies when they came to visit. In a pinch, Sandy would pull out extra batches from “the Freeze” she had made in preparation for upcoming visits. She was an amazing mom and grandma and she will be dearly missed by all.
Sandy is survived by her children Jeff (Jamie) Antilla, Greg (Tracy) Antilla and Katie (Jeff) Radle; and grandchildren Delanie, Adeline, Paige, Max, Jack, Claire, Logan, Mackenzie and Eden; and her siblings Joan and Bill.
Sandy was preceded in death by Bob; their infant daughter Kristen; her parents; and siblings Stanley, Richard, Charlotte, and Maryann.
There will be a visitation at Stone Funeral Home on October 3, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held the following day, October 4, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. with a time of gathering the hour prior. Pastor Matthew Peters will officiate. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the amazing caregivers of Blissful Cottage and Hospice of Northern Michigan for their care of Sandy in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to Blissful Cottage in Petoskey, Michigan.
