Sandra "Sandy" L. (Boehne) Schmitt

Sandra L. Schmitt, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at her home in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Born in Elmhurst, Illinois, Sandy attended Western Michigan University and worked in office administration before marrying Dave Schmitt. As a military spouse, she relocated often, building a life centered on faith and family.

Sandy was a woman of deep and abiding Christian faith. She loved her extended family unconditionally and was always ready to offer support, kindness, and encouragement to anyone in need. Sandy will also be remembered for her gift of storytelling and her engaging, easy conversation. She had a way of making people feel at home, often sharing entertaining stories that brought laughter to any gathering. Her infectious laugh and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Victor Boehne, brothers Robert and Thomas Boehne, nephew Jeremy Boehne and his wife Karen and great nephew Baby Boy Boehne and nephew Michael Boehne.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Dave, brother Dave Boehne (Kathy), sisters-in-law Bev Greenberg (Bill), Kathy Palmer (Mike), and Mary Boehne, and as well as many beloved cousins. Her nieces and nephews will fondly remember how their Aunt Sandy always had their backs, and how she never missed a chance to leave a bright-red lipstick kiss on their cheeks.

Her memory will be treasured by Dawn (Don), Beth (Nelson), Jenny (Kevin), Tim (Theresa), Jeff (Tara), Brian (Yianni), Erica (Trevor), Maria (Joel), and Joy (Mike). She also had a special place in her heart for the children of her nieces and nephews, doting on them with affection, pride, and joy.

A faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey, Michigan, her life will be celebrated with a funeral service there on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. An additional service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton Township, Michigan at a later date.
