Shane Vincent Robinson, age 58, of Brutus, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born on September 6, 1967, in Joliet, Illinois, Shane was the loving son of Jean (Bouford) and Donald Robinson. He attended school in Gaylord through a Cheboygan ISD program, where his outgoing and friendly nature helped him forge many enduring connections.
Shane was an enthusiastic participant in Area 33 Special Olympics, enjoying unified bowling, bocce ball, and swimming. Known for his wonderful sense of humor and love of mischief, he delighted in playing practical jokes on his family and friends. He also held a deep affection for his extensive collection of Hot Wheels cars. Shane’s joyful spirit touched the lives of many, including the foreign exchange students welcomed by his niece Ashlee, all of whom he loved and was loved by: Isabella (Italy), Laura (Spain), Claudia (Spain), Maria (Spain), and Luisa (Germany).
Shane was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Robinson; his brother, Steve Robinson; his maternal grandparents, Louise and Dan Bouford; and his paternal grandmother, Elsie Robinson.
He is survived by his father, Donald Robinson of Brutus; his devoted sister, Denise (Andy) Grobaski of Brutus; and a large, loving family of nieces and nephews: Preston Grobaski (Craig Wilson) of Alanson, Tonya Burton of Arizona, Megan (Dan) Osier of Alanson, Marie (Joe) Black of Virginia, Ashlee Herrington of Brutus, Patty (Kevin) Decker of Utah, McKenzie Boda of Alanson, Teresa (Justin) Geddie of Kansas, Cecelia (Jeremy) Kelly of Oregon, Ramone (Megan) Robinson of California, Felecia Robinson of Kansas, Malcom Melton of Illinois, Cameron Wright of Texas, and Brionna Wright of Indiana. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews: Daniel Osier, Adyson DeVore, Lucas Black, Alayna Herrington, Anthony Kelly, Selena Kelly, Desiree Robinson, Dylan Robinson, Tyler Robinson, Liliana Guzman, and Rowan Guzman; and many special friends who became family.
A celebration of Shane’s life will be held in the spring, with details to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shane’s memory to Munson Manor Hospitality House (1220 Medical Campus Dr, Traverse City, MI 49684), an organization that provided comfort to his family.
