Sharon L. Meyer, 77
On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Sharon L. Meyer passed from this life into the next, surrounded by those she loved and who loved her in return.
She was born Sharon Leone Ball on August 1, 1943, to Albert and Gertrude (Chellis) Ball. She always said she had the right to celebrate two birthdays because her birth was officially recorded as the 2nd by mistake. Sharon raised on her family's dairy farm in Center Township near Levering. She attended school in Pellston and was a member of the Hornets cheerleading squad and a graduate of the Class of 1961.
On April 4, 1964, Sharon married Bill Meyer. Sharon and Bill made their home in Petoskey and together raised two children, Theresa and Butch. Sharon's love for her family was limitless, her smile infectious. She was fond of saying, "Your smile is something you can always give away and still have."
Over her lifetime, Sharon worked at several local businesses, Crago's, R&L Auto, Emmet Brick and Block, and Midas Muffler. She was a faithful member of the Cross in the Woods Catholic Shrine. She was an avid quilter and, for years, made many friends across the country with her husband Bill as a member of the Christian Motor Cycles Association. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society. Over the last 10 years she and Bill summered at the Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground where they also made a multitude of friends.
Her family and friends will remember her life during a memorial mass that will take place at noon Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Cross in the Woods Catholic Shrine. Sharon's family will receive friends at the Shrine on Tuesday, April 6, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., a rosary service will take place at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Center Township near her parents.
Surviving Sharon is her husband Bill and their children Theresa (Scott) Tremblay and Dennis "Butch" (Becky) Meyer. Other surviving family members include eight grandchildren Travis, Jennifer Lynn, Tyler, Jessica, Andrew, Brett, Josh, and Derek, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews. Sharon also leaves a host of friends and special family members, all of whom will deeply miss this extraordinary lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings Lorna Marshall, Harry Ball and Bert Ball, and by an infant brother Walter and infant granddaughter Cassandra.
Bill suggests that those wishing to remember Sharon through a charitable contribution consider the Cross in the Woods Catholic Shrine.
