Sharon Spain Van Velzor

Sharon Spain Van Velzor, age 70, passed away suddenly in the early hours of Thursday, January 13, 2022, at her home in Cheboygan, Michigan.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband, William (Bill) Van Velzor; stepdaughters Deborah (Jesse) Cessante and Deane (Matt) Wilson, and her stepsons Dale (Judy) Burkett and Douglas Burkett. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Trent, Kaylee, and Logan. Also, surviving is her brother Jerry (Donna) Spain. She is sadly missed by her beloved pets.

Sharon graduated from Cody High School and had a fulfilling career with the City of Dearborn, retiring to Cheboygan in 2008.

Sharon was both generous and kind, creative and clever, and blessed with the gift of gab. She had the ability to make you feel as if you were the most important person in the room. She was hearth and home, mother and friend.

The gardens she planted each year were as colorful and bright as the beautiful quilts she crafted, and the birds that came to her feeders surely knew her name, and they too mourn.

She is deeply missed because she is so deeply loved. And though we know that we shall see each other again when our eyes close in this life and open in the next, our hearts will ache with want, and our spirit will mourn her beautiful soul. Until next we meet, dear friend.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.
