Shirley Marie (Kerberskey) May

Shirley Marie (Kerberskey) May, 91, of Alanson, Michigan, passed away at her home on July 18, 2025.

Daughter of Leon Kerberskey and Edna Schrader, Shirley was born on August 31, 1933, in Petoskey, Michigan. She grew up in Petoskey and attended Petoskey Public Schools through the 10th grade.

On May 20, 1950, she married Gordon Burton May in Petoskey.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, canning, and riding her exercise bike.

Shirley is survived by her son Lyle (Diane) May; daughters Ruth Holcomb, Judy (Larry) Whitten, and Mary (Matt) Hoppe; grandchildren Breanne (Tim) Truitt, Maci (Rob) Perry, Peter (Vernessa) Holcomb, Eric (Dana) Holcomb, Beth Holcomb, Justin (Hannah) May, Jason May, Ashley (Jason) Kolarik, Angie (Kevin) May Hollister, Jacob (Michaela) Hoppe, and Mallory Hoppe; many beloved great-grandchildren; and brothers Jerry, Irvin, and Richard Kerberskey.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gordon B. May; sons Jimmy, David, and Daniel May; grandson William May; granddaughter Jennifer May Bennett; sister Linda Gronda; and brothers Bob, Jake, John and Marvin Kerberskey.

Charitable donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to Hospice of Michigan.

A funeral will be officiated by Pastor JT Blue at the Church of the Nazarene in Alanson on July 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and burial will follow the service at the Littlefield Twp. Cemetery.
