Starla Kaye (Castle) Piper Bushman passed away peacefully Sunday, January 11, 2021 at the age of 77 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan.
She was born January 3, 1944 in Three Rivers, St. Joseph, Michigan to Rolland Pomroy and Zada Mae (Forreider) Castle.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Bushman of Mackinaw City. Her two sons Rolland Scott (Kristine) Piper of Alanson and Larry Lee Piper of Cheboygan; three step-sons, Tom (Christine) Bushman of Florida, Tim Bushman of Detroit, Tracy Bushman of Cheboygan; two step-daughters, Tammy (Monti) Johnson of Cheboygan, Tonya Fagan of Indian River; two sisters Margaret Cunic of Cheboygan and Leota Lynn Castle of Madison, Wisconsin; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Larry Leon Piper; her son Timothy Maynard Piper; her parents Rolland and Zada Castle; and her beloved dog Buffy.
Starla loved living in Mackinaw with her husband Thomas. She lived most of her adult life in Northern Michigan where she raised her children. She loved spending time with her grandchildren as well. Having a blended family she made everyone important to her and loved them unconditionally. Starla will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Per her request there will be no funeral service. Any memorials may be sent to Cheboygan Humane Society or Hospice of the Straits.
A celebration of life may be scheduled at a later date. The Bushman and Piper families wish to thank McLaren Hospital of Petoskey, Hospice, and Nordman-Christian Funeral Home for their services to the family.
