Stephen P. Beauchamp

Stephen P. “Steve” Beauchamp, age 77, of Cheboygan, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born July 21, 1948 in Cheboygan, the son of Virgil and Eva (Taylor) Beauchamp. On January 31, 1970 at the Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City, Steve married Diane L. Hudson who preceded him in death in 2014.

Steve graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1966. While still in high school he started working at the Nordman Funeral Home which was just three doors down from his house. While attending the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he would come home to Cheboygan on weekends and work at the funeral home. He graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mortuary Science and was a faithful and dedicated funeral director with Nordman Funeral Home for over 50 years.

Steve was a member of the Cheboygan Fire Department for 33 years, Cheboygan Little League for 17 years, the DADS Club and Past Master of the Cheboygan Masonic Lodge, #283. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage and boating on Mullett Lake, taking rides with Diane to Mackinaw City in his MG Midget and attending his kid’s and grandkid’s sporting events.

Survivors include his three children, Stephanie (Joe) Kurtz, Holly (Marty) Roberts and Jeremy (fiance’ Crystal Lindeman) Beauchamp, all of Cheboygan; eight grandchildren, Josh and Andrew Kurtz, Will and Marah Roberts and Parker, Payton, Jersey and Gracie Beauchamp; brother Ed (Darlene) Beauchamp of Cheboygan; sister Beth (Jim) Hoffman of Traverse City; and his sister-in-law Susan Hudson of Cheboygan. Besides his wife Diane, Steve was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers-in-law, Bobby and David Hudson.

A memorial service will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, August 15 at noon with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00 am.  Memorial contributions in Steve's name may be directed to the Cheboygan Fireman's Picnic or the Cheboygan Hockey Scholarship Fund.
