Susan Marie Beebe (Ogden), age 67, of Indian River, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of her children and close family.
Susan was born on August 29, 1957, in Gaylord, Michigan, to Raymond and Dorothy Ogden and was raised in Wolverine, Michigan. She spent a few adventurous years in her early adulthood living in Anchorage, Alaska, before returning home to Northern Michigan around 1986. After many years in Wolverine and then Breckenridge, she ultimately settled in the home she truly loved—her safe space nestled near Burt Lake in Indian River, which she had purchased in 2018 and moved into full time in 2022.
Susan earned her Child Development Accredidation in Early Childhood Education from North Central Michigan College and worked for many years as a preschool teacher. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless children and families. Her love for nature and beauty in the small moments filled her days—from time on the water and walks along the lake, to sunrises, birdsong, and the scent of lilacs in spring.
She faced the trials life gave her with quiet bravery, determination, and steadfast faith.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always a safe landing spot for her kids—offering them steady love and a place they could always count on when life felt uncertain.
Susan is survived by her children: Linzie (Beau) Schmidt, Dustin (Anne) Beebe, Dylan (Megan) Beebe, and her beloved dog Daisy, who brought her great strength and comfort in her final days. She was a devoted and adoring grandmother to Vianna, Nicole, Henry, Evelyn, Ambrose, and Hutch, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her children and grandchildren will hold her close, forever and always.
She also leaves behind her siblings: Bob (Pam) Ogden, Betty Ogden, Ray (Leslie) Ogden, Ginny (Gary) Sumerix, Trish Ogden, Tim (Lori) Ogden, and Greg Ogden, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she loved very much.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Ogden.
A lifelong and loyal friendship sustained Susan through every season of life. Her best friend, Terri Campbell (Bachelder) , was a constant presence, sharing strength, laughter, and unwavering support from childhood through Susan’s final days.
Though Susan and her former husband, Robert Beebe, divorced after 28 years of marriage, they remained connected through their children. Susan was present in his final days, and his family, who remained close to her, were also by her side during hers.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2nd at Silverlake Cemetery in Wolverine, Michigan. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Camp Petosega, where family and friends will gather to honor her life surrounded by the water and natural beauty she loved.
“Wherever you go, whatever you do, your momma’s always gonna love you.”
