Susan Lee (Jamens) Caswell

                Susan Lee (Jamens) Caswell, 55 of Cheboygan passed away very unexpectedly on August 26, 2025, at McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus.

                Susan was born on August 8, 1970, at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital, the daughter of William Jamens & Sharon (Ryan) Jamens. She grew up in Cheboygan, graduating from Cheboygan High School in 1988. After graduation She attended Petoskey Beauty Academy.

                Susan was a Stylist for 34 years, owning and operating Susie’s Salon. Her career as a Stylist allowed her to make others feel good about themselves, which was something she truly loved, it brought so much joy to her heart in making other people look and feel pretty! She was passionate about how she made a difference, and this was where she shined!

Susan went on to marry the love of her life, and soulmate Richard Caswell on December 31, 2012, in Cheboygan, MI with Judge Robert Butts officiating. The couple lived a beautiful life together filled with humble pride, love, and made unforgettable memories along their journey together. When “Snooze “(as husband Rick affectionately called her) and her husband retired in 2019, the couple began operating Rock Solid Asphalt together.

Susan was always happy-go-lucky. Her hospitality and giving spirit knew no bounds in terms of what she provided to those close to her. She always had a hot meal or a listening ear for a friend or family member in need. She loved throwing BBQ’s and hosting company. Susan also loved taking walks through the woods to hunt for mushrooms or admire the deer, bear, and other wildlife on her property. She was an excellent planner and organizer, which helped her tremendously when it came to bargain shopping, which she was also great at. Susan absolutely loved her chocolate labs Woody, Wilbur, and Waldo.

                She was a member of the Cheboygan Eagles, St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church, as well as supporting the Casting for Kids Foundation ran through the Cheboygan Eagles.

                Susan is survived by her husband Rick Caswell, her Chocolate Lab fur baby Waldo, stepsons Richard (Dawn) Caswell JR, Nathan (Tristan) Caswell, and grandchildren Makayla, Luke, and Tucker Caswell, nephew Robert Morris, and godchild Lillian Chapman. She is also blessed to live on in the hearts and memories of so many special friends and family members, far blessed is she that there are far too many to list, but you know who you are. Keep on shining bright in her memory.

                She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sharon and William Jamens, as well as mother and father-in-law, Gatons and Florance Caswell, her son Thomas “Tommy” A. Ross (US AirForce), brother Bill Jamens and her beloved Aunt Ira. She was also preceded in death by fur babies Woody and Wilbur.

                There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church on Friday, September 12, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11am-12pm with a Memorial Service beginning at 12pm. There will be a luncheon to follow at the Cheboygan Eagles.
