Suzan "Suzy" C. (Trarop) Simon

Suzan “Suzy” Carol Simon, 73, of Petoskey, died June 17, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Born on December 29, 1951, Suzy was the daughter of Jack and Claudia (Eimers) Trarop. She was a proud 1970 graduate of Petoskey High School. Suzy dedicated much of her career to caring for others as an EKG Technician at Burns Clinic, now McLaren Northern Michigan, where she worked until her retirement.

On August 16, 1986, she married the love of her life, Steven Simon. Together, they built a life filled with hard work and love at their Flat 40 Farm, where they raised cattle and pigs. Suzy had a passion for gardening, canning, cooking, and baking. She was always eager to try new recipes and share them with family and friends.

Known for her vibrant spirit and signature style, Suzy brought color and joy wherever she went. She often wore bright clothing and playful accessories, and in recent years, she even dyed her hair all kinds of fun colors that matched her personality.

Suzy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Steve Simon of Petoskey; her son Tod (Becky) Trarop of Petoskey; grandchildren, Jack, Serina, and Megen Trarop; sister Beth Trarop of Petoskey; many extended members of the Simon family, including brothers and sisters-in-law that she was very close with; and numerous nieces and nephews.
