Tamra Willett (67) was born on January 5, 1959 and passed into the next world on February 18, 2026 at her home in Cheboygan, Michigan. She lived in many places throughout her life, most recently in Omaha, Nebraska and then in Cheboygan for the past 5 years. Tamra was an exceptionally intelligent, curious, and creative person. Her strengths and interests led her to the Air Force where she served in Armed Forces Radio. She also worked as a counselor for troubled youth. She worked as a writing and copy editor for Home & Away magazine, and volunteered in theatre productions, both community and school. Tamra loved language, read avidly, and utilized her Master’s degree in English in many capacities.
Tamra was a talented artist, working with clay, beads, and other mediums to create pieces that reflected the beauty and vibrancy of her spirit. She loved to bake and made many delicious goodies for her loved ones, enjoying their pleasure and also indulging her own sweet tooth.
She had a devotion to art, dreaming of attending in person but settling for attending online many famous museums. Tamra loved fashion and made a point of watching red carpet features, often with her ex-husband on the phone to critique together. She also studied books of historic fashion.
Tamra’s passions extended to such diverse areas as hockey, particularly the New York Rangers, black and white movies, reality shows, liberal podcasts, and Bollywood. She had a great appreciation for gardening and volunteered her skills at the Cheboygan Area Public Library and at Medilodge of Cheboygan.
Tamra had many pets in her life throughout the years, notably her soul-pet Deacon and her most recent beloved, Beulah. She also bonded closely with her adoptive dogs Irwin and Delilah, often cuddling with them on the couch.
Tamra leaves behind those who were blessed by her light; Sue and Mark Bronson, friends and roommates, and their children Sophia (Caleb), Maurice (Sadie) and Zora (Andrew), Rick Johnson, beloved friend and former husband, Claudia and Glen Richmann, friends extraordinaire; brother Brad Willett and his family; Friend, Jill Archer in Omaha; and many local friends including Brianne Crittenden, Mark Beardslee, Midge Shaw, and Nannette Johnston.
Sue, Mark and Rick would like to thank the wonderful caregivers of Hospice of Michigan and NorthStar Palliative Care for their warmth and compassion. Memorial donations may be made to the Cheboygan Area Public Library, the Cheboygan Area Arts Council, or Habitat for Humanity, in recognition of three of Tamra’s passions.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday February 24th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Nordman Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan, Michigan.
