Terry Stead

Terry Stead, age 75, passed away on January 24, 2023 peacefully with his family by his side. Terry was born on December 15, 1947 to William and Olive Stead.  He grew up in Cheboygan and graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1965. 

He loved his family beyond measure. Terry was the devoted husband of Linda (Hutchinson) Stead, loving father of Rick Stead, Joe Stead and Heather (Johann) Urmeneta. He was the proud grandfather to Richard, Savanah, Gabriel, Beckham and Elliott, and great-grandfather to Leonardo and Amelia. He is also survived by his brother Forrest “Chip” (Carolyn) Stead, sister-in-law to late brother Tamara Stead and many nieces and nephews.

From a young age Terry had a love for magic and one of his greatest joys was sharing the wonder of magic with the world. He built and performed magic in various ways through the years including daring escape acts to a magical clown Mr. Soxx for birthdays and church events. Terry had a love for magic, theater, singing, performing, art and woodworking.  He loved giving his time to the local performing arts, building sets and working with the backstage crew. He was a master craftsman all of his life building beautiful custom cabinetry and furniture. If it was made of wood, he could create anything.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Robin Stead.
