Theresa Lucella Ford (Miller) age 92, a lifelong resident of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs.
She was born on Grove Street in Petoskey in the family home, on December 30, 1928, as one of eight children of Stephan and Mary Miller (Popielewski).
On October 12, 1946, Theresa married William Kendall Ford (Ken) at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey, and they eventually made their home on the Ford family farm in Resort township where they raised four children. Theresa was skilled at using the fruits and vegetables grown on the farm, as well as tending the chickens. For years she sold eggs in Petoskey, delivering them to her customers every Saturday.
In addition to farm work and tending a large garden throughout her working life, Theresa was also employed at many places in the area, including: The Petoskey Evening News (now the News Review), the Palace and Temple Theatres in Petoskey, Resort Elementary School and as a hostess at Victories in Petoskey.
Theresa enjoyed visiting her siblings where they made many road trips to various flea markets and stores. In her later years she also enjoyed reading novels, watching her favorite TV programs, writing letters and working crossword and word search puzzles.
Theresa belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Janice Berger. She was also preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings including George Miller, Rose Kelly, Marie Allerding, Martha Dobbins, Helen Foster, Vincent Miller, and Gertrude Hosko.
Theresa is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Orife (John) of Indiana, Pennsylvania; sons, Keith (Sharon) of Traverse City and Thomas (Sandy) of Boyne City; in addition to six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey on September 10, 2021, at 12:00 noon with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey.
In the interest of safety, the family has requested that all attendees of the indoor visitation and services wear masks.
In lieu of flowers, the Ford family has requested charitable donations be directed to the Bay Bluffs Foundation (PO Box 693, Harbor Springs, MI 49740).
Arrangements were entrusted to the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
