Theresa Kargol Obituary

Theresa Mary Kargol, 86, of Petoskey was called to her heavenly home on April 19, 2021.

A life-long resident of Petoskey, Theresa was born on November 5, 1934, daughter of Mary and Martin Beer, Sr.

On October 10, 1953, she married the love of her life Frank Kargol. Together, they raised five children, cultivating the start of what grew to be a large, close knit and fiercely devoted family.

She worked at Sears for over 20 years and made lasting friendships during that time.  She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Little Traverse Quilt Guild. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, but also loved sewing and quilting, cooking, baking, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and watching a Tigers game. You could almost be guaranteed that wherever Frank was, Theresa was also. She always had the brightest of smiles and her tender heart looked for the good in everyone and everything. Another joy was traveling, especially with her family. Countless memories were made on those journeys. Her final journey was on April 19th when she peacefully passed at home with her devoted husband and children by her side.  While fighting this courageous battle against ALS, she never lost faith in God.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Frank; children Jim (Marcee) Kargol, Carolyn (Missy) Kargol, Cindy (Louis) Rohrer, Catherine (Bill) Stonhouse and Christine (Mike) Reeves; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Mary Ellen Enos and Dorothy Prawdzik; brother Richard Beer; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Martin and Ron; and great granddaughter Olivia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation or St. Francis Xavier Church.

There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church on May 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Father Greg McCallum will officiate. There will be a Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. and visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the church gathering space. Burial will take place immediately following the Mass at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery (Petoskey). Stone Funeral Home is caring for her arrangements.
