Thomas Robert Fisher
April 10, 1945 – January 6, 2026
Thomas Robert Fisher, age 80, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Tom was born on April 10, 1945, in Flint, Michigan, to the late William Alexander Fisher and Bernadine Marie (Came) Fisher. He grew up in Mount Morris, Michigan, and was a proud 1963 graduate of Saint Mary’s Catholic School.
After a brief period working at Buick in Flint, Tom answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force on July 5, 1966. Stationed in Kansas and Hawaii, he received specialized training in non-destructive testing—a skill set that would define his professional life. Following his honorable discharge, Tom married the love of his life, Cheryl Marie Booth, on November 14, 1970, in Clio, Michigan.
Tom dedicated 30 years to Consumers Power, eventually moving to Boyne City to work at Big Rock Point in Charlevoix. He retired in 2003 as a Senior Technical Analyst in the Quality Control department. A man of faith, Tom was a devoted member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
Tom was an avid sportsman and nature lover; Tom was happiest when he was outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, camping, or hunting for mushrooms, he found peace in the Michigan landscape. He enjoyed bird watching, golfing, and traveling to some of his favorite places, including Yellowstone and Brevort Lake. In his retirement, he and Cheryl cherished their winters spent on Dauphin Island Alabama. Above all, Tom will be remembered for his sense of humor and his penchant for "general Tomfoolery," bringing laughter and joy to every family gathering.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Cheryl; his children, Eric, Aaron, Ryan, and Heather; his grandsons, Jacob (son of Ryan) and Bjorn (son of Heather); his brothers, Robert and Michael; and his sister, Mary Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Tom’s memory to Raven Hill Discovery Center.
