Thomas R Kondrat

Thomas Robert Kondrat of Boyne Falls passed away January 14, 2019 peacefully at home at the age of 87. 

Tom was born in Boyne Falls on July 17, 1931 to his parents, the late Stephen and Josephine (Aldachim) Kondrat.  Tom graduated from Boyne Falls High School in 1949 where he excelled in basketball.  After school, Tom served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1952-54.  He married Janet Carson on April 25, 1959.

Tom was a builder and traveled to over 27 states building log homes for Boyne Falls Log Homes.  He later went on his own as a builder contractor and worked in the cedar swamps in the winter.  Tom’s passion was his log home on his lost 40 where he built trout ponds and enjoyed feeding the wild life.  Tom, his wife and son Jim enjoyed making over 600 fish decoys until the death of their son Jim.

He is survived by his wife Janet Carson of 59 years, son Steven (Hank) and Cindy, daughters Jane Doty (Jerry) and Tamyra Rison, Grandson Jason Doty and wife Andrea, brother Bill, sisters Martha Golota, Bernadette Sparks, and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Tom was preceded in death by son James, brothers Bernard and Benjamin. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Augustine Church in Boyne Falls with a visitation being held from 10:00 AM Thursday until the time of service at the church.
