Timothy Wayne Szymanski, age 45 of Cheboygan, Michigan, passed away February 7, 2026, at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. He was born on September 21, 1980, in Wayne, Michigan, the son of Walter Wayne and Nina Jean (Redinger) Szymanski.
He grew up in Westland, Michigan before moving to Cheboygan and graduating from Cheboygan Area High School. He went on to attend Central Michigan University and Alpena Community College.
Timothy served honorably for 12 years in the U.S. Army and National Guard. During his service, he played trumpet in the Army Band and worked as an unmanned aircraft mechanic and drone mechanic while in Afghanistan. Outside of his military career, Timothy enjoyed target shooting, quad riding, working on cars and his trucks, fishing, camping, and watching football. He also shared his love of music by playing trumpet with the Mackinaw City Orchestra. Above all, he valued spending time with friends. Timothy was a proud member of the Livonia Moose, Phi Mu Alpha, and Black River Stone Church.
Timothy is survived by his mother Nina Szymanski; sister Lisa Moran; nephew Jeffrey Edney, and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his aunts, Marge Marriman, Barbara Sanberg, and Judy Labine. Timothy is preceded in death by his father Walter Szymanski and his grandparents.
Services will be held at Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on February 14, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm, and a service will take place at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
