Timothy James Welch, age 73, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2026. A man of immense talent and even greater kindness, Tim left an incredible mark on both the landscapes of Northern Michigan and the hearts of those who knew him.

Born on March 28, 1952, in Highland Park, Michigan, Tim eventually found his true home in Boyne City, Michigan, where he spent the majority of his adult life. He was a master carpenter by trade; his “gift” lives on through the many beautiful structures he built throughout the region – lasting monuments to his skill and hard work.

Beyond his professional talents, Tim was defined by his generous spirit. He was known for his ready smile and welcoming hugs. Tim maintained a wide, vibrant social circle and was dearly loved by many in the community. He frequently donated his time and carpentry skills to help those in need.

Tim’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children: daughter Kayla Welch, sons Patrick Welch and Ben Pung; granddaughter Kennedy Welch; grandson Evan Pung; brothers Michael and Steve Welch; and sister Vicki Welch. He was preceded in death by his mother Harriet Gregory and father Patrick Welch.

In accordance with Tim’s social nature, the family asks that the next time you find yourself at a local taproom or Eagles Lodge, you raise a glass and share a toast in his honor.

A celebration of life to honor Tim’s wonderful legacy will be held at a future date. Details will be shared by the family as they become available.
